Ombudspersons of Kyrgyzstan and Russia will solve migrant issues
In Moscow, the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva, and the Commissioner for Human Rights of Russia, Tatiana Moskalkova, held a meeting with representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora in Russia.
The meeting took place at the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia. During the meeting, the ombudspersons of the two countries conducted a joint reception of citizens. In addition, representatives of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan and the staff of the Commissioner for Human Rights of Russia provided legal advice to Kyrgyz citizens residing in Russia.
Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva noted that a large number of Kyrgyz citizens live and work in Russia, and ensuring their rights is one of the priority areas for the Ombudsman Institutution of Kyrgyzstan.
"As is known, diasporas play a huge role in identifying and providing assistance in solving human rights problems. Thanks to your active interaction with our compatriots in Russia and promptly informing us, the authorities of Russia, and the embassy when questions arise for our citizens residing in Russia, we are able to solve individual problems and protect human rights."
There are a number of problems faced by Kyrgyz citizens in Russia, such as migration registration not at the place of residence, the issue of the possibility of obtaining health insurance policies for family members, amnesty for those blacklisted, difficulties in enrolling children of Kyrgyz citizens working in Russia in Russian schools, labor rights, and in some cases, rude treatment, among others. Undoubtedly, we understand that solving the aforementioned problems requires time and active assistance from other state authorities of Russia. And we, on our part, will make every effort to advance human rights issues," said Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva.
Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva noted that together with the Commissioner for Human Rights of Russia, they have already started developing algorithms for solving migrant problems from Kyrgyzstan.
"For example, a draft protocol of joint cooperation between the Commissioner for Human Rights of Russia and our Institutution has been developed, in which we have outlined our plans for cooperation until the end of 2024. I am confident that the implementation of this document will have a positive impact on the observance of human rights in our countries," said the Ombudsman.
Moskalkova noted that the migrant issues raised by the Kyrgyz diaspora will be discussed and addressed with representatives of government agencies in Russia.
"One of the main tasks of the Commissioner is to communicate with people. I am confident that improving guarantees for the rights of migrant workers contributes to the integration of citizens of other states into our society and strengthens their potential as workers and entrepreneurs," said Moskalkova.
