The Ombudsman and the Ukrainian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan held a meeting

Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) of the Kyrgyz Republic Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Kyrgyzstan Valery Zhovtenko held a meeting.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on topical issues in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms in accordance with universally recognised principles and international law.

Valery Zhovtenko drew attention to the importance of humanitarian co-operation.

Dzhamilya Dzhamanbaeva emphasised that protection of rights and freedoms of Kyrgyz citizens staying in other countries is one of the priority tasks of the KR Ombudsman Institute.

"In this direction, we are greatly assisted by the Ombudsmen of other countries. Contacts and interrelations with the ombudsmen of other countries are extremely important to us. And we are always ready to co-operate on such a platform," Akyikatchy said.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on the importance of discussion on strengthening democratic values and high standards of human rights and freedoms. The meeting took place on 4 March.
