Ombudspersons of Kyrgyzstan and Russia signed a Protocol on Cooperation in Moscow
In Moscow, at the House of Human Rights in Russia, an official meeting took place between the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva, and the Commissioner for Human Rights of Russia, Tatiana Moskalkova.
The Ombudspersons of the two countries signed a Protocol on Cooperation between the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia and the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan for the years 2023/2024.
Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva noted that the Ombudsman Institutution of Kyrgyzstan expresses confidence in mutually beneficial cooperation with the Commissioner for Human Rights of Russia.
"I am confident that the document we are signing today will give a great impetus to strengthening cooperation between the human rights institutions of Kyrgyzstan and Russia. In the near future, we will be able to accomplish the tasks set before us, jointly analyze complaints from Russian citizens residing in Kyrgyzstan and Kyrgyz citizens residing in Russia regarding violations of their rights. Based on the results, we will develop mechanisms for international cooperation and protection of migrant rights."
The Ombudsman expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for Human Rights of Russia for supporting the citizens of Kyrgyzstan living and working in Russia.
"We highly appreciate every gesture of attention shown towards our citizens. We have a number of questions and problems concerning Kyrgyz citizens residing in Russia that require special attention and assistance in their resolution," she said.
Moskalkova noted that the signing of the protocol on cooperation between the ombudsman institutions of the two countries is an important historical event for the protection of the rights of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
"The human rights institutions of Russia and the Kyrgyz Republic have strong friendly relations based on common principles of humanity, mercy, and justice. The large number of migrants working in Russia and the student community is inevitably associated with moments that require our intervention. Together, we have opened a new page of cooperation by signing a protocol on cooperation for the years 2023/2024. We have a clear plan of joint actions to enhance guarantees of human rights observance both in Russia and Kyrgyzstan and to make people's lives better."
