The Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic visited a special institution of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sakharovo, where Kyrgyz citizens are temporarily held
The Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva, visited a special institution of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the village of Sakharovo in the Moscow region of Russia.
It is in this institution that foreign citizens, including citizens of Kyrgyzstan, are temporarily held.
During her visit, the Ombudsman met with citizens of Kyrgyzstan who have been sent there for temporary detention by the relevant authorities of Russia.
The Ombudsman conducted personal consultations with citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and familiarized herself with the conditions of their detention.
At the time of the Ombudsman's visit, a total of 209 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were accommodated in the special institution.
Employees of the Ombudsman Institutution, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as representatives of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Russia, provided legal consultations to citizens of Kyrgyzstan held in this institution.
Individual cases were also addressed, which the Ombudsman took personal responsibility for. Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva noted that these statements will be reviewed jointly with the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Russian Federation and the Consular Service of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia.
According to the case files, citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic are mainly held in this facility for violating Russian migration laws, and there are individuals who are subject to criminal and administrative liability.
Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva noted that in accordance with the mandate of the Ombudsman Institutution and universally recognized principles of international law, all measures will be taken to protect the rights of citizens of Kyrgyzstan who, due to various circumstances, find themselves in this special institution.
Afterwards, Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva visited the multifunctional migration center in Sakharovo, where she familiarized herself with the conditions for accepting documents from foreign citizens for document processing.
