President Sadyr Japarov expressed his readiness to provide comprehensive support for the activities of the Akyikatchy Institute

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov today, September 7, held a meeting in Bishkek with Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva.

During the meeting, current issues in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms were discussed.

Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva briefed the Head of State on the activities of the Ombudsman Institution, the main results of its work and the results achieved in recent years, as well as measures being taken to improve legislation in the field of protecting the rights, honor, and dignity of citizens.

Sadyr Japarov noted that the protection and observance of human rights and freedoms are among the most important priorities of state policy.

The President particularly emphasized that when complaints are received concerning the use of torture or violations of citizens’ rights, employees of the Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) Institute must conduct a full and comprehensive investigation, ensure the protection of citizens’ rights guaranteed by law, and defend their interests without fearing possible pressure or unlawful actions by law enforcement agencies.

Sadyr Japarov expressed his readiness to provide comprehensive support for the activities of the Ombudsman Institution aimed at reliably protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens and ensuring the rule of law.

It should be noted that, based on the results of work in 2025, the share of citizens’ rights that were restored exceeded 58%, while the number of inspections increased from 179 to 811, and the implementation of response measures and recommendations by state bodies reached 93%.

A total of 9,672 people contacted the Akyikatchy (Ombudsman)  Institute last year, while during the eight months of 2026, the number of appeals was 50 percent higher than during the same period, indicating a high level of public awareness of the Institute’s work.
