In September, the Ombudsman of Turkiye is expected to visit Kyrgyzstan

Ombudsman Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chief Ombudsman of Turkiye Sheref Malkoch held negotiations via video conference.

The parties discussed strengthening cooperation in the protection of the rights of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Turkiye in accordance with universally recognized principles and norms of international law.

The parties reached a decision to hold a series of joint events in the field of labor migration, economic and civil rights of citizens of Kyrgyzstan in Turkiye and citizens of Turkiye in Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the Ombudspersons of both countries agreed on an official visit by Sheref Malkoch to Bishkek in early September of this year.

"We expect that your visit to Kyrgyzstan will be fruitful, and we will be able to discuss in detail with you joint actions on many issues regarding the protection of the rights of labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan in Turkiye, as well as Turkish citizens staying in Kyrgyzstan," said the Ombudsman.

Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva noted Sheref Malkoch's contribution to the consolidation of Ombudspersons from different countries to ensure the protection of human rights, as well as the important role in the creation of the Association of Human Rights Ombudsman Institutions.

It should be noted that on May 12, 2022, in the city of Bursa, Turkiye, the Association of National Human Rights Institutions and Ombudspersons of Turkic States was established.

"As the Chief Ombudsman of Turkiye, you have achieved a lot in the field of protecting the rights of citizens. Today, the Ombudsman Institution of Turkiye is considered one of the influential national human rights organizations. You have created a strong platform - the Association of National Human Rights Institutions and Ombudspersons of Turkic States. As the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, I am ready to support such initiatives to ensure the protection of Kyrgyz citizens who are outside our country," noted the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Sheref Malkoch invited Dzhamilia Dzhamanbaeva to participate in the next meeting of another association - the Ombudspersons of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Chief Ombudsman of Turkiye expressed confidence that this platform will contribute not only to the consolidation of Ombudspersons's efforts but also give a new impetus to the development of cooperation between national human rights organizations.

As a result of the negotiations, the Ombudspersons of Kyrgyzstan and Turkiye reached mutual understanding on human rights issues.
